That's called regular maintenance and it comes with any vehicle. And while maintaining a vehicle for that many years can be sometimes inconvenient, it's almost always less expensive than replacing it with a brand new one.

HD trucks have beefier suspensions and whatnot, so the components themselves are a bit stronger and more durable.
That said my major concern is the driveline. From what I've heard if the fuel system has issues (HPFP, injectors, etc) then a 5-6k bill could be coming my way. Likewise for engine internal issues.
Thinking the 1/2 tonne truck maintenance costs are still more my income ability.

Very true.
Diesel motor's take some time to be broke in. Works 2000 F450 has almost 500000 k on it. lol. Runs like the day it was bought

oh, for sure. But you cannot assume that a car on autotrader, or kijiji, or anywhere else, has had an owner that also thinks this way. to see a high mileage vehicle and think "its a diesel, mileage doesn't matter" is risky.

Of course. I never intended to put that across. I just meant that on avg, a diesel engine has a longer lifespan than gas. Again, 150K isn't a lot of kms for a properly maintained diesel motor.

Winter beater coming out in an hour or so after I walk the dog. Need the garage space to empty the basement into so that we can finish it. Will drive it a bit, make sure there aren't any new problems that actually need to be fixed before I tuck the mustang away in another month or 6 weeks. Oh, if anyone has a cheap amp and sub for sale let me know. Beater needs to pound a little more.

Sometimes customers suck.
One one of my two days off this year. We were camping for the weekend with my boys.
One of my two delivery guys gets sick and has to go home early. I see three choices. Make my guy work and puke all over people's houses. Put everyone off till the next week. Or hope my remaining guy can handle it alone. My guy puts in a very long day. But gets everything done. He showed up late for the last call and its a big delivery that should have two guys. The customers nephew is there and offers to help. It doesn't go smooth as silk. But it gets done and nothing gets damaged. Now a month later that customer is in my store. Kicking up a stink about how bad our service was. How we never should have attempted that delivery with one guy. He demands the delivery charge back and assures me he will never deal with us again. And that he will be sure to tell everyone how bad we are.
Just pisses me off. But I can't tell the customer off so I rant here. Thanks for listening.

I did mine in the cold in a cold garage. Took about 4 hours with a friend, mostly because we had to figure out which heater box to use. And since it's just a heater core you can just take off your glove box and access it that way. Dont make me come there and make you do it.

I no a better "safer" build for a 427 is by using an aftermarket block. I have a 1971-1974 casting 351W. I will research what I can do with this block. Using quality parts / griddles / hardware & testing the block is all part of the package. If I find staying 408 is a better option then I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. This should be a fun & interesting process.

A cat will definitely eat a ton of mice if it has the hunter instinct.
Go buy a bunch of traps and be diligent checking them everyday.
Also try to find where they're getting in and seal it up. I live a block away from a farmland. When the weather gets cold it's time to set traps. Get a couple every winter and the garage is year round. They like to come in under the rubber.
They'll never be gone forever so $2500 is a waste of money. Buy $20 of traps and keep checking emptying them. Use a little bit of peanut butter on the trap. They can't resist peanut butter.

You could say it's.....to die for [emoji12]

thanks guys!!
@ Ray- ya i'll try the traps for now- the quote was about 2500 without tax- 2900 in total.
the buggers are actually climbing the brick like spiderman and getting access either through the soffit, weep vent ,and areas without flashing. when I checked the exterior i've got a lot of possible entry points- even saw a dead one on the ground- probably fell to the ground from the second floor. Not only am I trying to deal with this the wifey is stressing me out about this mice- she thinks its a "cleanliness" thing lol.
one thing is good that we caught this early- not too much tunnels in the insulation in the attic- and no noise in the walls for now, basement seems good- noise is just on the ceiling wall from the attic.

LoL!!
the plan to replace and upgrade the wife's daily driver is starting to take shape
car is a 2007 VW Rabbit....silver 2dr......great little ride....incredibly handy for hauling shit...hanldes fantastic, seats are awesome...couldn't be more pleased with it....but at 7 years old and 72k on the clock....I;m getting itchy cause we can still get good money for it on a trade in
I've said for years that if I go to the end with a little silver two door hatch on the driveway then I'll be more than content.....but the colour has to be silver cause it's parked outside and I ain't dealing with constant detailing on a bitch colour for an outdoor 24/7 ride
the only ride I've been honry over for the last few years as a replacement has been the Land Rover Evoque 2dr.....it's sooo nice looking....but it's 70 fucking grand for something parked on my driveway that my wife will be terrified to drive....and I'm told the thing depreciates like a rock
been telling the VW dealer for the last few years....."when you guys make a GTI in sliver...order me a 2 door"
well....there's a bunch of folks in the states driving 2015 GTIs in a colour called Reflex Silver Metallic
soooo....I was at the dealer this morning and asked if they could get that colour up here.....:nope...red, white, black or charcoal"
so I said....well can you order me one in that colour?
stay tuned

great cars!! I got to drive one when I was in Germany years ago. It was called an R32 or something like that. V6 and a pseudo-AWD. killer ride, and so inconspicuous.

R32 was the VR6 motor.....had around 240HP no power adder and yes AWD...but only available in Canada in the colour blue, 4 door and manual trans
GTI is 4cyl turbo...around 210 hp and FWD....not as much of a hoot as the R32...but you can get it in a 2dr with an auto box (wife won't drive a manual)......and for years they've only painted the cars like 4 or 5 colours in North America....but in 2015 they've added lots of colour options to the US cars......so that's my angle with VW Canada
I figure if the dealer wants to keep me they'll trade in my silver 2 door hatch for a new silver 2 door hatch

It's not on their website yet, but theres a comparo in the latest Motortrend that you'll all find interesting.
Mustang GT Track Pack VS Camaro 1LE VS Charger SRT with the Scatpack.
It's a great article. They question the styling, performance and price of the new Mustang just like most of us have.
The Camaro 1LE won.

Wait...what??? Maybe now those few US states where this is legal will also follow.....
Denmark Takes Steps to Ban the Sexual Use of Animals
In Denmark, the sexual use of animals is still legal. Care2 member Miljana Djukanovic started a petition demanding that Denmark pass a law to ban bestiality. As she writes, "the absence of such a law has led not only to people engaging in sex with animals, but even to the creation of 'animal brothels' where people pay to have sex with animals." More than 114,000 people have signed Miljana's petition. Denmark's Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dan Jorgensen, has taken notice of people's outrage. In October, he proposed an amendment to Denmark's Animal Welfare Act under which bestiality would be considered -- as it already is in many other places -- a crime.
