Stock hemi from a truck / car with auto would be a sweet power plant.
Would be. Hoping not to have to deal with electronics.
Worth it from a drive ability and resale stand point. More and more peeps are wanting the look of an old car but with modern everything else.

This is my little whippet jumping her Mustang in her first day of competition today. She maybe weighs in at 90 pounds but behind these green eye's and small frame is a fierce competitor. In her first year of competition last year she silenced all the neigh sayers by working hard and becoming the champion. Today she moved up two divisions and placed 2nd - that's not going to sit well and I'm sure next event she will be gunning for number 1 - I'm a proud daddy!
Do you have your own horse? My niece does and found that riding the same horse increased her competitiveness.
Only problem horses are not cheap....think your car can suck up cash?

Yes we have her horse but she's ready for a bigger horse. Was jumping 3'6 the other day on a bigger horse and she has the balls to go higher. The pony she has now is not capable of much more height. Her confidence level since she started riding is off the charts - had a few falls and just shook them off. Her first coach was not very good and holding her back. Her new coach has been excellent. I don't find it much more expensive then other sports but having a horse is like a car payment. He pony is pretty healthy and she was a rescue horse when we purchased her and wasn't too expensive and recovered very well. She is going into grade nine after this school year and when she begins to work she will eventually take over the responsibility. I think this is her calling and will likely continue to work with horses in one form or another as she grows and maybe for life.

tried the atf and fast crank trick and that got the intake valves moving but the exhaust ones wouldn't budge so pullet the head/ valve cover off and pored some atf directly around the stuck open valves will let it soak and see what happens

Flat head n stuck valves go hand in hand, most times will free up however good idea to lap em while heads off.

Hahahaha your a perfect match then - sometimes its good to jump in - on my street a few years ago a house went up for sale for around 300 I told my dad he should buy it - if I had the money I would of bought it - a woman bought it and it was fairly new just needed some finishing touches - this woman put 100 into it and sold it a year and a half later for just under a million - you never know and sometimes change is good

I figured it out. There looks to be an access panel in behind the exhaust manifold to get to the valve train. Gonna be a couple days of penantrent on the bolts before I try and remove the manifold. Hopefully be able to get it off without breaking them.
Thats where valves are also adjusted.

do you know if they use shims or adjustable shafts? im having issues finding a mechanics manual without spending money at sketchy websites
Ones I dealt with had manual adjusters which required a pair of 9/16" wrenches and a feeler gauge. Not sure how much that varied between mfgs.

When I’m faced with a decision like this I always weigh the consequence of failure versus the cost savings. Pulling a head twice seems like a costly waste of time to me.
Just my opinion, I’m sure lots of folks have successfully rolled the dice.
I’d normally think the same. But still in the can I get it to run stage.
And it’s a flat head so pulling the head literally took all of 15 min.
Wish new stuff was still that easy lol

just got back from the final step in the dental implant process....and the whole process seems to have more in common with the car hobby than the medical field
the implant in your jaw is essentially a hollowed out titanium tapcom screw that is carefully screwed into your jaw....after they yank all the roots etc....and then use about 5 different drill bits gradually increasing in size to make the hole...then the implant is literally drilled in with a tiny pneumatic socket
the hollowed out inside of the titanium implant is also threaded to accept a smaller screw
they do some moulds of your teeth and send out to the lab....and a week later your new part shows up
your new part is a titanium adapter design to sit on top of the implant....with a ceramic cap that sure as hell looks like a nice new tooth....and there's a pilot hole left down the middle of this tooth
they set the tooth on top of the implant....drop the set screw down the hole....grab this tiny little socket wrench....and wrench the tooth on to your jaw......pretty sure there was some dental-grade loctite that went in there too
then they take a quick xray...and with everything looking good....they literally torque the new tooth down to spec
and then they fill the hole
anything ever happens to the tooth....drill out the hole, unscrew the tooth...fix it and screw it back in etc
I'm $4k lighter.....but I'll have the porterhouse from Brunos and enjoy every bite
Okay stupid question.

FYI pulling the hinge pins on a door will cause the door frame to come out of square. At least that’s what that customer was yelling as she demanded I fix her front door after my guys had to remove it to deliver her new appliance. Ignoring of course the wore off paint from years of rubbing. She also bitched about the $55 delivery fee for having two guys spend 2 hours delivering her fridge. Even though they did have to remove doors. And hook up the water supply. Oh and we gave her a loaner that my guys dropped off at no charge while we waited the two weeks for her fridge to come in as her kitchen is weird so had to special order in the size to fit. But yes I’m a crook and a cheat and I damaged her door so she is going to take it upon herself to let everyone know how terrible I am.

I was talking to someone the other day, they blamed person B for their fence door A not closing because the person B door was too heavy.
See below, if Door B was super heavy and managed to pull the fence between the posts, the first door would get stuck on the bottom not the top.
| [DOOR A] | [Fence] | [Door B] |
Real problem was 3-fold. Their contractor didn't put a support beam between the posts on door A (They already cut the posts), the gap on the door was too tight not allowing for tolerances and the first post shifted a little which is common.
I recommended they just take apart their door and rebuild it so there's an inch gap. Instead their contractor took a chainsaw to the post lol
Hope rider from collision at Kennedy and Finch yesterday is ok.

Well, fence is about 50% done, forgot how hard solo work was.
On another note, big ups to International Trucks of Charlotte NC. We bought our new to us Durastar 4300 dump that i posted on previous page from them sight unseen from just photos online, and wow it's cleaner than a new truck and everything is top notch. Nice to see folks take pride in the vehicles they sell in this day and age.

Indeed. We're already talking about picking up another truck from them. Frame is immaculate (no salt) and the interiors clean as whistle. The dump box is a nice high sided 16' unit which I couldn't find in Ontario, let alone with all the LED marker lights, chromed out electric tarp, and barn doors with a gravel chute. I had one gripe that the oil looked like it hadn't been changed in a minute, but damned if they didn't email me with their Blackstone labs reports they did every second change (former Penske chassis).
Just gotta convince my brother that it doesn't need to be painted white to match the other Durastar and the boom truck. I like the yellow and it matchs the F550 i love dearly.
Cool when it works out that way.

Hey Chris, can I borrow that when you’re done?
So I went to Marshall’s with the wife today, and there’s a newer high-end F250/350 right at the entranceway, not tight to the building, no signals or anything, just sitting there like he’s waiting for someone to cross in front of him. So I pull behind and wait, he looks in his mirror and rolls his eyes like I’m a moron, then hauls ass away from the entrance. So I proceed to the middle/end of the lot and park (away from other cars), we begin walking to the entrance, and the fucking guy is literally taking up exactly 4 handicapped spots, all while the truck is sitting there running. What a fucking idiot! Park your truck and wait for your wife/gay lover to call or text you.

I spend 10k / year for my commute and create about 7 tonnes of CO2e. I'm ok with a paycut because it's important to me not to have to go to the office each day. I'm at the point where more money in my pocket won't make much of a difference and priorities are changing.
It's a moot point anyway.

That was a strange... panic attack?
Pretty bad because I was driving at around 110kmh. Anyway I glanced at a cloud formation for a split second then started to think about death and the freedom it can bring and how pointless and awful life really is. Suddenly I felt like I was flying out of my seat going up versus forward in my car. I slapped myself back to reality real quick but that was the first time I've felt that in a long time. Like I was escaping my body to float away. But never had this awake before? That evening I couldn't speak either, I slurred my words to the point where my wife asked if I had a stroke or something... maybe I did... who knows.
I did have an out of body type dream about 20 years ago, I remember "waking up" to make toast but my body was still in bed. Once the toaster popped, I felt a rope drag my ass back into my body and it jerked me awake.
That would certainly get ones attention while driving, hope your ok.
Better lay off the Fox for a few weeks, drive the 550 only n see how you feel.

Just a lot going on at work these days. Employee almost died from a heart attack, then I learn a friend of mine's niece had a headache and is now on life support that's about to be unplugged... she's fucking 6! That brings a lot of emotions.
Plus I'm really confused that they say the speed of light is a constant at the same time they say "time" is relative. Meanwhile speed is distance over time (no?) so how can the speed of light be limited to one speed. You can bend light and time, so should the speed of light be a variable with no "speed limit". I'm thinking light will travel faster around a black hole for instance. Or am I just really starting to become stupid. And doesn't quantum entanglement prove that information can travel faster than speed of light in the universe as well?

I hate working. I mean I enjoy the work, I just can't stand being around stupidity and it's running rampant at work places. I'm astonished how some people got so rich by being so stupid. I'm not sure what I'm missing other than fucking connections.

Well, from what my nosy neighbour tells me. My new next door neighbour that just moved in, the wife is the daughter of a former Ontario Liberal cabinet minister. This should be interesting.

I am really considering starting a tire shop... service level is shit everywhere I go. Why should anyone wait an hour to get a patch put in when there's only one customer ahead? 11:30 appointment and my car is still not in the bay FFS.

You’re vastly underestimating the power of tribalism and nepotism.
On a related note, I’ve been reading “Presuasion” which is fascinating and deals with how people are influenced.
This is his second book - haven't read it yet but heard it's interesting so will have to add to my summer list.

There's a program (US Army focus) on HBO/Crave tonight that looks interesting - PVR is set for 8pm. The Cold Blue.
https://www.businessinsider.com/the-cold-blue-documentary-about-world-war-ii-b-17-bomber-crews-2019-5
They Flew. They Fought. They Died. They Won. THE COLD BLUE is a meditation on youth, war and trauma, and stands as a tribute to one of the world's great filmmakers and the men of the 8th Air Force who flew mission after suicidal mission in the Second World War. Nine of the very few surviving veterans were interviewed in the summer of 2017, and their voices take us through the harrowing summer of 1943. William Wyler, one of Hollywood's most renowned and versatile directors, went to Europe to document the Air War in progress. Wyler flew actual combat missions with B-17's -- and one his three cinematographers was killed during filming. Incredibly, all of the raw color footage Wyler shot for THE MEMPHIS BELLE was recently discovered deep in the vaults of the National Archives, and a new film has been constructed out of the material. This event includes an exclusive behind the scenes look at the making of THE COLD BLUE.
*****************
A new documentary places the audience inside of a B-17 flying fortress during one of the deadliest moments of World War II for American military aviators: Soaring over Europe in 1943 on a daylight bombing mission.
Directed by Erik Nelson, "The Cold Blue" will premiere in select theaters for one day only on May 23, via Fathom Events.
The film was constructed using recently discovered and restored footage from the World War II-era documentary "The Memphis Belle: A Story Of A Flying Fortress" by William Wyler. Harold Tannenbaum, one of the cameramen who helped capture the original footage for "The Memphis Bell," was killed in combat while filming.
The documentary follows the men of the Eighth Air Force who took part in a nearly nonstop daylight bombing campaign from May 1942 to July 1945 aimed at loosening the Nazi Regime's hold on Europe. While they ultimately succeeded, it came at a terrible price: The Eighth Air Force accounted for nearly half of the US Army Air Force's casualties — roughly 47,480 out of 115,330— and included more than 26,000 dead.

How much power should one expect to loose when dynoing heahsoaked, run started at 135 and ended 150.
Driving it's always under 130, driving letting it sit and it the manifold absorbs all the heat and then the dyno had no fan and hood was closed.

Be a shame to over mod this one, not very many out there with low mileage this one has.

No fan and hood closed, yea that puppy needs to be on a different dyno.
As for how much power it lost, would depend on what it has IAT II temp cap set at and how aggressively it's programmed to pull timing. When in bypass / out of boost, depending on it's location, sensor see's so little air past it, actually starts to pick up temp of the manifold it's screwed into vs air around it. Another trick to controlling IATs that is grossly overlooked, controlling actual engine temp. Case in point, my own car looses a small fraction of the power a typical Cobra see's when it's stinking hot n humid outside. Some describe performance in those conditions as feeling like the blower belt has fallen off.

Don’t be like that Rick, low mileage, no mileage, it doesn’t really matter, mod the crap out of it and enjoy!
Cool car from the factory in its day, but would be outrun by most family haulers currently on the road in stock form.
