After a powerhouse concert at the Havelock Country Jamboree, popular local band Cold Creek County is heading back into the studio to finish offtheir debut album. Rocking the band are Trevor MacLeod, Brandon Scott, Doug Oliver, Josh Lester and Justin Lester.

There are big things ahead for popular local band Cold Creek County.

Coming off a powerhouse set at the Havelock Country Jamboree where they opened for Alan Jackson and wowed the Friday afternoon crowd, Cold Creek County is headed back into the studio to finish off an album that will open up whole new musical worlds.

"There's all sorts of big things coming out about this group. It's all kind of hush-hush right now but great things are coming," says founder and lead singer Brandon Scott of Brighton. Scott, a former Havelock Country Showdown runner-up, has teamed up with My Darkest Days drummer Doug Oliver of Hastings with the band solidifying around Trevor MacLeod of Stratford, who also played guitar for MDD, and brothers Josh and Justin Lester of Trenton.

They deliver a powerful, dynamic sound that's already captured a sizeable fan base.

Playing the Jamboree was a highlight and they feel privileged to have received the invitation.

"It was mind-boggling. It was a lot of fun," Scott said. "I've been coming to the Jamboree for years so to finally get on that stage was a lifetime dream come true."

Canadian country superstar Johnny Reid felt the same way after camping out at the Jamboree as a fan and years later headlining two evening shows. The band in its present form has been together for about a year building momentum along the way while laying down tracks for an album. Five songs are done.

"It's been going sky-high. It's been great," says Scott. "Every show we pick up a few more fans and we just love the response we've been getting. Everywhere we go we seem to pick up people and they love what we're doing and we love having them on board. We're really outgoing guys and we love to talk and meet everybody and let people know we're around."

Cold Creek County blends country and rock in a way that works well.

"It's our roots," says Scott. "We grew up with rock and country and we put it together and that's coming out now."

"We sat in the studio all winter long and got the five songs done and now we're going to progress into a full length which is exciting," says Oliver who has built a studio in his home. "We're trying to play festivals here and there while we're getting it going."

Oliver says "it's not much of a transition at all" going from rock to country.

"I'm actually playing a lot more rock drumming now."

Scott and Oliver hand-picked the band and couldn't be happier with how it's turned out. The dynamic, he says, has been "amazing."

"We're very lucky." "A lot of bands I talk to say it takes a long time to figure out the proper members of your band and that's the most important thing; you've got to have the chemistry. Everyday we're killing it and bringing to the table; everyone knows what they have to do and they're doing it. It's awesome."

The Jamboree was "kind of the cap of the summer," says Scott. "We'll go back into the studio and finish the record and head on to the road."

Even though the rain made last year's annual food truck extravaganza a bit of a bust, I couldn't resist including at least one food truck event on this year's summer round-up. Coming in at the tail end of the summer, the food truck rally has moved west from Fort York to new digs just outside the city at Celebration Square in Mississauga (yes, I know that's not technically in Toronto). Admission is free and the award ceremony will be held on Saturday, September 6th. Expect many tacos and other gourmet food truck fare to be consumed although a full list of the 40 or so trucks participating is yet to be announced. in my opinion:
for building bulk...heavy reps per set = 6 reps
for buidling definition....light reps per set = 15 reps

anything above or below that imo should be a single set for a max weight try....or the last set where you're just giving everything until failure and you crank out crazy reps

diet is the thing that's gonna make you huge or ripped....and I'm not picky on my diet...I'm just training to keep the thing between my ears in shape

I mix it up....if I go heavy on day 1...I go heavy right through day 4....if I go light...same deal....I don't typcially go heavy or light in consecutive 4-day routines...cause your muscles don't get shocked

my routine does the whole body over 4 days...then a day of....then rinse and repeat

day 1 - chest (16 sets) delts (12 sets)
say 2 - legs (30 sets)
day 3 - back (16 sets) traps (12 sets)
day 4 - triceps (16 sets) biceps (12 sets)

there's countless combos of exercises..so I'm constantly mixing that up too

My guess... Because it happened to me when I used to lift....is that because you haven't lifted for a little bit, your muscles have gained back full strength and are completely repaired.

They will still be strong and get fatigued and not lift max again soon. Just my .02

The stupid part about drag week is how many of the 8 sec or faster cars break down on the side of the road. If it's street legal it shouldn't require constant work to keep going. How many of those cars are running legit emissions systems on them? Sure it's great to run a 6.16 in the 1/4 but that takes away from the whole reason the event was started. It was for guys who are regular joes to go on a tour like a big time event. Now it's mostly pros, starting to turn into another NHRA.

Only 8 cars in unlimited class. The other 292 range up to 15 seconds. It is a great event and in the 1000 miles those cars drove they are street legal.

These guys do not have chase cars. If they break they are repaired by the 2 people in the car mostly with the parts in the trailer that these cars pull.

Larson,s truck is by far the newest vehicle in the event and the rest are vintage cars. Excempt from all emissions and modern laws including seat belts.

I'm not sure why everyone gets so pissy about.

They are plated and insured. And drove 1000 miles on there own power in all weather conditions 8 including downpour that delayed 2 events.

Not every state is Ontario governed. This is Oklahoma boys

In F150screw's scenario, according to the HTA, he had the right of way. The other guy ran a red light. All else being equal, and if the cop has no reason to believe anything other than this occurred, I don't think he'd lay a charge against the guy who was acting according to the law.

Is that an absolute? No, insomuch as a cop can basically charge anyone with whatever, whenever he wants.

But if the cop did charge him in this case, according to the HTA, he'd be in error in doing so.

Personal experience, same scenario as stated, I was delegated as at fault for the accident. Officers interpretation, turn not in safety (wording may be off). He determined I should have waited until traffic was fully stopped in all directions before proceeding. My position, car + one behind it stopped in the other approaching lane, saw the vehicle approaching but assumed it was going to stop, he smoked down a full red, yes it was flashing advance green my way. Said I, if I felt it was possible the car in lane 1 was not going to stop I was bound by law to wait until it did. Now how in the fuck does that work?? Never knew part of a driving test / lic requirement was to be a mind reader.
Took it to court expecting a slam dunk win, judge felt the same. If your making a left turn, all the cards fall in your lap.
Once I knew the officer was charging me, asked for the names and contact info of the two peeps in the other lane that stayed around as witnesses, conveniently he hadn't thought it nec to keep their info and did not have a statement from either as in his mind it was crystal clear what had transpired.
Moral of the story, get in an accident, even a minor one, gather up as much witness info as humanly possible cause you very well may need it.

Well, I'd like to know what law that is. Because (again, I know) according to the HTA, you have the right away. Like, the section even goes so far as to mention the other section that it supersedes.

Like, if someone is turning left on an advanced and doesn't stay in their own lane going around the corner and hits a car proceeding from a red, turning right from the other side of the intersection, who stays in his own (right) lane, I can see getting dinged for that.

But getting convicted for going thru a green light when the other guy went thru a red AND the highway traffic act says you have the right of way...? Some serious errors going on there, imo.

I believe common sense, if maybe not common law, more or less obligates everyone to do whatever they can to avoid a collision.

But it is hard do see (a) how any cop could charge someone for turning left on an advanced green since that is what advanced greens are supposed to be for (except in Vancouver but that's a different story!), and (b) how any justice of the peace could convict on such a charge if it were laid.

But I learned at my Father's knee - he was a lawyer - that the sun only rises in the east if the judge says so. In other words, until you go to court you just never know.

It seems pretty obvious that under the HTA subsection you quote that the left turner does indeed have the right of way.

But when you have overzealous cops trying to meet their unofficial quotas, and retired pharmacists or buddies of the local MPP getting gigs as justices of the peace, you end up with ridiculous situations just like this.

I'm currently looking into a radar trap scam in Napanee that sounds like it came straight out of that southern Georgia town which makes most of its municipal budget off of out-of-towners!

It's a scandal, but it seems awfully hard to motivate anyone to do anything about it.

Actually doesn't take that much longer once you figure it out - the longest part of it is working up the lather on the brush to get started but you get 2-3 passes with the lather, and shaving cream is faster than the hard soaps. I take about 35 minutes in the morning to shower, shave (2 passes: with grain and across grain), brush teeth, iron cotton dress shirt, and dress for work.....and in-grown hairs are reduced about 70% since I switched.

Check around your injectors for leaks, may be a bad o-ring, mine did that, would pinhole leak on start up and puddle in the plastic intake manifold.

Did you recently do anything under hood? Plugs/Coils/install any parts?

Diesels are different. Regularly maintained ones should go for several hundred thousand km's.

Although, there have been a lot of horror stories with the last gen Ford diesels. Some have no issues while others wouldn't ever buy Ford again because of their experience with them.
