I have a buddy that works for bmw and he sold his because he knew how much it would cost him to drive it in the next year as he racks more kms on it. Its a shame you pay top doller for premium cars but the reliability and affordability down the line suffers

Never had this issue. For every guy that tells me "oh man I know a guy who's BMW bankrupt him" we've had a number of the brand with no issue and my father is the man who kills the unkillable car always. I also take what techs for a certain marque say about theres with a grain of salt, when you only see the broken stuff all day you get jaded (no one brings in a flawless car and goes hey look at this, its flawless, its always the broken stuff). Great for opinions on what car go wrong and the cost, but generally a lot have negative brand loyalty it seems.

Most would agree audi and bmw are money pits. I forgot to mention Porsche lol
If the parts would not cost an arm and a leg then maybe I would agree with you. But to me premium price should equate super reliability...not the other way around.

What is your assessment based on? I think a lot of people are muddling the waters between repair costs and reliability. If a BMW goes 7 years and has 1 $4000 repair bill, would you say it's less reliable then a Ford Taurus that needs 8 $500 repairs in the same span? To me a money pit is a vehicle that needs ongoing, repeated service, all while declining in value. Yes BMW's cost more to service, just like a 40ft power boat needs more upkeep then an aluminum fishing rig, or a 3500sq ft house costs more to run then a 1800sq ft house.

Wet weather is on the way for Toronto and much of southern Ontario this week.
Environment Canada has issues a special weather statement for the GTA and several parts of the southern Ontario ahead of heavy rainfall that is expected to arrive on Tuesday.
“A Colorado low pressure system is expected to intensify into an early spring storm as it races across Lake Huron and central Ontario tonight. This weather system will bring a rainfall of 15 to 30 millimetres, most of which will fall tonight,” Environment Canada’s weather advisory read.
<iframe name="fsk_frame_splitbox" id="fsk_frame_splitbox" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="" webkitallowfullscreen="" mozallowfullscreen="" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border-width: initial; border-style: none; outline: 0px; line-height: 1.6; vertical-align: baseline; width: 603px; height: 0px;"></iframe>
The national weather agency added that a cold front will also hit the region early Wednesday morning, bringing strong southwesterly winds.
“Wind gusts of 80 to 85 km/h are quite possible early Wednesday morning,” the statement continued.
“Isolated power outages may be issues to deal with due to the strong winds. If the early spring storm becomes a little stronger than currently expected, wind warnings may be required.”
Tuesday and Wednesday will see daytime highs of 4 C and sunshine is expected to return on Thursday.
Below seasonal temperatures will be sticking around for the rest of the week.
Thank you to everyone for their best wishes.

I’m always amazed how the pressurized lines at 60-90 psi are less trouble than the low to no pressure drains. Oversizing seems to be an obvious answer but the accompanying velocity drop is often the bugaboo.
Yeah but if you think about the drains and what’s draining into them, as well as what sits in them it all makes sense.
Well thats just freakin great, spraying brine on the roads at mach 10. Ramps are fully covered, hwy has the normal lines on it.

Makes for safe driving though. I still have snow and ice on the cottage road added with some mud for a great mess to drive on. Ice on the lake is unsafe now. Hate this time of year up here.
Not the amount they are hosing the ramps down with, wet curb to curb with puddles, never seen it put down that heavy. Lines on the hwy itself look normal though.

most games the Leafs have ever won in a season - 45
most points ever scored in a season - 103
most wins for a Goaltender in a single season - 37 (Ed Belfour and Andrew Raycroft)
2017-18 Maple Leafs regular season is over....and if you watched the Leafs this season you saw records fall
most wins in franchise history at 49
most points in franchise history at 105
most home wins in franchise history at 29
a home game winning streak of 13 games
and Freddy Andersen set a new record of Goaltender wins at 38 with last night's season sweep of the Montreal Canadians
this team has serious depth....8 players with 40+ points....multiple 30+ goal scorers.....and the superstars are barely into their 20s......we got a 6'4" 235 pound wall of a starting goaltender and a backup tender who stands on his head whenever you ask him too....and we got one if not THE best coach in the league
this is a damn good hockey club.....finally
we've got a tough road in the playoffs....this team could go out in the first round....but we could also go the whole way and win the big fucking deal
buckle up....this could be fun
Cars etc covered in frost with a light dusting of snow this am..............enough already.

also trying to convince wife to get a Volt or Bolt... Alternate cars and save on total fuel costs. Besides once wynne gets voted in again, he/she/it will continue the communist-green-plan where if you have more than 2 cars, one will have to be electric. So get ready those of you with a weekend toy and two daily drivers, you WILL have to buy a new car or get rid of your stang (which I think the local value will drop considerably as the market will be flooded with them).

As of right now, our street and side streets around me are impassable in a car because of slush depth. Dropped Kath off at VP and Sheppard, during my round trip, stopped counting cars stuck either on the street or at end of driveways at two dozen. I'm sure they appreciate the citys position on no plowing as did the one on Birchmount who hooked the berm then smashed to bits when it hit a tree.

I couldn't believe sat afternoon that they hadn't plowed the highways.

Weird.. Its not like we live in California and never see snow :shrug:
I was out Markham to Burlington. Yes it was bad but I think I've been in worse.
Really snotty sections across 407 E towards Oshawa yesterday, oddly worst of it closer to the city, ditches littered with cars n trucks. Same with 401 West once we were past Milton. Accidents we saw, most appeared to have caught slush on the shoulder n sucked into the ditches or just spun out.
Wanna bet how many involved all season tires n driving too fast? Ram with auto 4x4 + snow tires from hell meant no problems, drove upwards of 500kms yesterday.

Wonder how many people had already switched the winter tires?
Or never had any in the first place??
I was getting calls on removing snows 3 n 4 weeks ago. Most were not aware of ins angle if receiving a discount for running snows between date X and Y.

Saw my neighbour a few houses down get stuck on the road at 1:00am trying to get onto driveway so went to help push the car - noticed all season tires, completely worn, and VW FWD. Not even sure how that car even made it out and back to get stuck on the street. 20 minutes later the neighbour across the street in a fairly new Mazda6 got stuck trying to get onto their driveway - all season tires and FWD again (my guess is they thought newer car and all season tires so no winters needed.
massive crater of a pothole infront of the McMansion build next door...this thing will swallow a 20" wheel like nothing
city comes out and puts one of those 4ft pylons BESIDE the fucking hole
so after watching, hearing and feeling 4 cars drive right through it.....I went out and put the pylon IN the hole
those cars had to have serious damage....shook my house each time they hit
Nice, no cleared / safe sidewalks to use, pedestrians walking down the slushy road.
What a flippin fail.

Make snow tires mandatory from November through April.. done. Why isn't this a thing? If you can afford a car, maintenance and insurance then snow tires every 4-5 years shouldn't be a problem.

I like to wash the wheels before putting them away. Has been too cold to turn the water on, so no wheel washing, so no tire change.

I watched Liar Liar last night and I don’t think I’ve laughed so hard in my life.....the whole thing was just awesome, but that scene where he was trying to write the pen was red had me rolling.
Not sure why stuff is funnier when you watch it like, what, 20 years later.
Plus, the chick in the elevator is so smoking hot.

Ya sounds aboot right. It's a classic cant believe you haven't seen it before. What crazy is I'm not a huge Carrey fan but I think that movie is damn funny. It's up there with the Jump Street movies, Superbad, Harold and Kumar, Super Troopers (2 this weekend FUCK YA) all which never disappoint me.

Currently sick (since Friday, that will teach me to drive heavily on weekday) and dealing with snow and ice BS. Good thing DJT is out there starting WW3 so it will be all over soon.
Nice, now that the snow n ice is 2/3 melted off the street, couple minutes ago, plow wanders by.
Meanwhile, sidewalks in this area continue to be a mine field for pedestrians.
This has to be a freakin joke!!
And it keeps getting better, after the plow made a pass up n down each side of the street, salter is dumping at mach 10. Yup, bulk of the road was / is dry n clear so now they start dumping salt (oh and the amount dumped is ridiculous). YAY TEAM, where the fawk was all this when we actually needed the roads cleared n salted??
Salted just did lap two,.

Today is my two year work anniversary.
Seems like a fitting day to finally (maybe) have an empty shelf of customer repairs.
I also finally sold the Mazda last night after listing it on Friday. (Still needed 4wd to get out of the driveway yesterday)
I have a set of 285/35/19 tires that were in the trunk, I think I'm going to pay the $100 to mount and dismount them and just burn them to the cords (hopefully with pictures)

On Monday morning, I cleared as much ice off of my truck as I could then drove right to the spray and wash and got rid of all of the rest. I would hate the thought of being responsible for someone swerving off the road because they were trying to duck flying ice off my truck.

It's Thursday and the city still hasn't cleared sidewalks on my street. I hope the temp rises enough today to melt some of this stuff.
Same here in the city, hoping for the same thing.

think about this
if you get hit by ice, or a loose 2x4 flying off of another vehicle you have zero recourse unless the offending vehicle stops.
Well thankfully it was only freezing rain and ice pellets falling from the sky on the weekend. If it had of been freezing rain, ice pellets AND 2x4's all mixed into that same storm, it would have been a real mess. Have you ever tried to clear frozen 2x4's off your vehicle in the morning? Think about THAT!

Worst case turn on heater medium let car idle. Helped melt the ice off the Camry. Whole 2 inch thick sheet slid off my roof. Same with the hood. Was oddly satisfying
