Got that but will they change the laws so we don't end up in this situation again. This is the fourth million dollar settlement I think (first for a confirmed terrorist though which is mind-boggling)?
The Catalyst for this Payout, was our Radical Left-Wing Supreme Court and the kunt Lawyers that represented this Terrorist POS, the entire situation is disgusting!!
Some good news today though, in this sea of Liberal-Islamic Alliance, "Politically Correct" Bullshit, is that US Soldier's Widow, who is being represented by some esteemed US Attorneys, has filed a Motion in our Canadian Courts to block the payment to Khadr and have the funds sent to her, to offset the Judgement that is outstanding in the United States.

Rednecked myself a coolant system pressure tester last night, exited to go home and test it. Bought a new overflow cap, popped out the inside guts, used a step drill to make a tight hole for a car valve stem. Discovered without the guts it leaks so sealed it up with RTV.
I was able to test it yesterday by holding it on a certain way and it holds pressure.
Now the question is what do I test at, cap is rated for 16 so how much less is normal operating pressure?

I saw that yesterday and hope it works but the legal consensus I was reading is that it will be very difficult to enforce a US judgement here.

Bigger boat is on my mind.
Took a few minutes last night to look up reviews of the dealer where I had a problem last week. Not surprised to see two recent reviews of peeps having similar issue with the sales manager. Whom ever owns that place needs to gas this dude ASAP................... he's an asshole.

its tempting Laurence- right now mortgage payment that seems like a bottomless pit, hydro, gas, property tax, home reno or maintenance etc etc. I go home hang out sleep in bedroom etc and rest of house is unused- so I'm tempted to sell- enjoy, buy my gt350 or something reasonable, go more family vacations, travel etc. Family could enjoy while were still young.
At current situation when we gonna buy gt350 or something when I'm 75 and dried up like a prune :oldman:
As far as "Hanky Panky" I'll just wait till my Parents not home if we were to move into there basement lol

Good thing for me, like the no chrome Sport as much as the full chrome Laramie but for different reasons. I look at it this way, buy new, make it a factory order and get exactly what you want, buy used, compromise cause your more likely vs not never going to find exactly what you want. Same with my rational on which configuration of cab n box. Sometimes larger cab would be a bonus, other times a longer box, pretty much split down the middle which is more important so again it gives me more choices when I'm searching. One things for sure, Crew with longer box is a no go.
Since you've also been looking, you'll know the pricing on this one is well below market, especially given such low km's.

Federal Court voids Canadian citizenship revocation for 312 people
TU THANH HA
The Globe and Mail
Published Wednesday, Jul. 12, 2017 8:04PM EDT
Last updated Wednesday, Jul. 12, 2017 8:13PM EDT
The Federal Court has nullified government attempts to strip Canadian citizenship from more than 300 people after an earlier judgment struck down key provisions of the Citizenship Act introduced by the former Conservative government under Stephen Harper.
The earlier ruling, in May, declared those provisions inoperative because they were an expedited process that deprived individuals of the right to an oral hearing and did not take into account humanitarian and compassionate considerations.
As a result, in a decision on Monday, Justice Russel Zinn voided the citizenship revocation of 312 individuals who had turned to the court after they were targeted in a sweep against people who had obtained their Canadian nationality through fraud.
Another 14 similar court requests, which had not been filed in a timely manner, can apply for a deadline extension, Justice Zinn ruled.
“It’s another judicial loss for the policies of the previous government,” Montreal lawyer Vincent Valaï, who represented some of the people in the case, said in an interview.
He noted that the Conservative government liked to say that obtaining Canadian citizenship is a privilege, not a right. However, the ruling in May said that once acquired, citizenship is a right.
“And because it is a right, you have to respect procedure fairness before revoking citizenship. That means the right to a hearing before an impartial judge,” Mr. Valaï said.
Another lawyer involved in the case, Matthew Jeffery, called the provisions in the law a “deeply flawed process.”
The government could start the revocation process against those people all over again but it would first have to rewrite the law to conform with the court rulings, Mr. Jeffery said.
The number of revocation cases began ballooning when Jason Kenney, who was immigration and citizenship minister in the Harper government, announced in 2012 that his department would cancel the citizenship of more than 3,000 people, in a crackdown against those who had faked the amount of time they have spent in Canada.
In February, 2014, the Harper government amended the Citizenship Act to fast-track the revocation process in what it called “non-complex” cases. It meant eliminating the right to a hearing for individuals when their citizenship had been obtained by fraud.
Several of the cases involved clients of Nizar Zakka, a Montreal immigration consultant who created a system to hide the fact that the clients were not residing in Canada for the required two-year minimum within a five-year span.
Faced with hundreds of applicants challenging their citizenship revocation, the Federal Court started with a review of eight lead cases while the other cases were held in suspension.
Last May, Justice Jocelyne Gagné ruled on the eight lead cases, striking down the new provisions for an expedited revocation process.
“They deprive the applicants of the right to a fair hearing in accordance with the principles of fundamental justice,” Justice Gagné wrote.
In one case that she highlighted, the government tried to revoke the citizenship of Fiji-born Thomas Gucake, who had come to Canada as a child and later served three tours in Afghanistan with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry regiment.
In 2015, Mr. Gucake received a notice of citizenship revocation because his father had failed to disclose a minor criminal conviction in Australia.
The current government has since amended the Act so that, by next year, the Federal Court would be the decision-maker in citizenship revocation cases.

Woman behind the desk insisted that the grandmother did not reside in Canada for the minimum amount of time and did not qualify. He was mad because they renewed her card in the past, why not now? Short day at work today, got my plates and health card renewed, sanded the drywall and grouted the tile I did last weekend at my in-laws and was still home earlier than usual.
the last two August long weekends the wife and I have gone up to my nephew's cottage on Kawagama lake
he's a good kid (30 years old)...but hasn't settled down yet....different girl each year etc
the place is a bit of a bitch...water access (not an island)....and 90 stairs from dock to 700 sq ft cottage.....so don't forget your stuff in the car at the marina.....and when you head down to the dock...take 5 beers not 1
noticed last year he was a bit lax on the garbage...."just toss it over there at the recycling bin near the side door".....and I thought...."hmmmmm".....not to mention cooking a bunch of food late at night and then leaving plates and food scraps on the table outside
he just sent me a vid from yesterday morning at 545am......and you guessed it....a fucking black bear is sniffing around the deck, nosing at the door.....wasn't huge but probably 200lbs
and then he follows up with "so.....you all set for this August long weekend?"

aside from some additional decking, and landscaping....doesn't look like much has changed
except for the 6 fucking million they want for it now
it's serious cottage porn.....wish I had the buckos

Went for a ride in a buddys 2015 Mustang GT, with the performance pack. Stock engine, no tune, Borla catback, lowered on Eibachs, project6G wheels. Very nice looking and sounding car.
He bought the rims with those Mickey Thompson Street Comp Tires on them. I think 265s up front and 305s in the rear. What a shit tire. No traction, hazes the tires (rears) through 3rd, no turning or even braking (has the big Brembos) traction (front wheels). These tires have a 300 treadwear and are no better than the stock Pirellis that would have come with the car.
This tire is perfect for the carshow/cruiser crowd that can brag to his fellow schmucks that hes got Mickey Ts on his car. Thats it!

I have the Sport Comps on my car. 275/35/20's on the front and 305/35/20's on the rear. The fronts were new in 2015 and the rears were almost new (bought from Heinz) at the same time. I've put 20,000km's on them and done 4 road course days at TMP and about 3 drag strip events. I've found them to be a very decent tire for the price. At last year's road course events I was very impressed with the grip, when properly inflated (thanks Tulowd Paul). And I ran a 12.87 best at the strip with them last summer also - which is very decent for a stock drivetrain/no tune full weight convertible.
However... I will say that this year these tires provided much less grip on at the spring track day at TMP. I've also noticed they are becoming increasingly noisy on the road and have noticeably less grip as well (although oddly, still very decent in the rain). I'm guessing that, although the tread still seems decent enough, they've heat cycled too many times and are ready for replacement. I've been researching tires to replace them with for a while, but I'll prolly finish out the season with them for now. For what I paid for them and what I've got out of them, I think they've been a good, decently priced tire.
Details please.
2016 1500 Quad cab 6' box Laramie with 11k on the clock. It's at Caledon Chrysler, everyone we've come into contact thus far have been uber pleasant and accommodating. Have a deal in place along with deposit, couple small details for them to follow up on which I'm sure will play out first of the week.
This one, just like almost all others I've looked at, missing limited slip but will be adding myself. It's otherwise only short a couple or three possible options, like that it does not have a sunroof but will really enjoy the power rear slider. Thankfully it does not have the optional 3.90 gear, would have been a deal breaker as would towing mirrors. Would have preferred standard / small gas tank but larger one is fine. Black was at the bottom of my list (current ride is black), black pearl on this looks terrific cleaned up and in the sun.
To me, unless your doing a factory order, buying either new off the lot or used comes down to a compromise between what you must have and what your can or can not live with. I know for some, might think my going out with an absolutely carved in stone max budget might seem off, enjoy hunting down a great deal n making my dollar stretch to $1.49 worth of value. I'd otherwise be too careful (ok make that cheap) to have bought one pretty much loaded.

Thanks for that Armen.
Looks like you nailed one thing about these tires (and even other brands), tire pressures. Who knows what these were at. Too much or not enough.

Nice job there Rick. Congrats are in order here. Patience got you close to what you wanted.

My wife doesn't care. My two buddy's wives kick a stink every year about it.
interesting weekend
wife was catching some rays on the deck Saturday and said...."there's definitely something under the deck"
my gym windows look out under the deck....so a quick look confirmed.....mama raccoon with a bunch of little ones....I counted 5 or 6 in total
called the wildlife folks...they set up two traps around 5pm
by about 9pm I got sick and tired of them not moving....so I opened the window in the gym and blasted AC/DC on the gym stereo full crank....they apparently don't like Bon Scott belting it out and got the fuck out
one of the "teenagers" took the bait and ended up trapped
I blocked the hole they had dug
wild life guy returned last night to take the one we caught....re-bait the one trap and put another trap down
alarm went off at 530am this morning as usual....and when I looked out I saw two little bastards running around like something just happened
alright....momma is caught now....so is another little one....so that's 3 caught
wildlife folks will be returning tonight to take those two away....and we'll be setting up the traps to catch the rest of them
Brings back memories of last summer n about a dozen patches of roof shingles ripped up
Brings back memories of last summer n about a dozen patches of roof shingles ripped up
imo...it's these fucking developers
they buy these places and sit on them for the time it takes to get all the permits approved (a year ++) and let the place turn into an un-maintained shithole....and the critters come in and set up house
then when they knock the places down, these critters end up scattering to the neighbouring properties
Exactly what happened here Tim. House next door was a neglected / overgrown eye sore for gone three years before being knocked down. Original big push on the new building now prick has done nothing on it for two months, city will do nothing about the garbage and debris on the entire property. Another one up the street, construction is going on 2.5 years and still shit hole out front.

So lesson for everyone. When you go to the parts store and ask for cleaner for your parts washer make sure they don't hand you metal immersion cleaner instead.
You go back out two days later and find out that it's literally dissolved the pump in your 3 month old parts washer.
Then when you try to pull the pump out you splash it all over your shirt which will instantly start to dissolve and burn the shit out of your chest.
Super lucky I didn't splash it on my face.
Anyone know the safest way to get rid of this stuff. It's fucking nasty.
See if you can dispose of at the transfer station / dump.
What you ended up with sounds like old skool carb cleaner, brutal shiat.

-Decide now to try and figure out why car is throwing bank 1 & 2 rich codes, since I need etest in oh 6 days.
-Drop tank to check that no wiring/hoses are pinched in hat causing it to freak FPDM out (happens)
-All looks good in tank, button back up
-Decide to try swapping plugs since I have multiple spares, so decide to run to Crappy tire for a new feeler gauge since mine fucked off and get some maf and KN cleaner since why not while we're at it.
- Gas tank straps let go on way there, apparently the thread clips they bolt to disliked this 100th round of tank dropping and would now like it if tank hits ground.
- Pull off and sit there for a minute processing what the fuck just transpired.
-Walk to crappy tire, get bungees to hold tank up, walk back
-Burn hands several times on exhaust rigging exhaust up
-Drive home again with broken straps dragging along ground
-Car still not fixed.

A shout out to LiftMaster for using 2 crappy capacitors in their wall controllers, which is guarantee to fail in 2-3yrs rendering your opener utterly useless. Until replacement controller shows up. It's a great feature to have when your garage door opens and closes at anytime of the day all by itself, because of a faulty panel. A well known problem that the company hasn't and will not correct.

My goodyears are better in snow than they are in wet, go figure.
I've added the Mopar hard folding tonneau on mine, tinted windows, added a clear film protector for the 8.4 screen to help with the crazy glare they get, and have a set of Bilstein 5100 leveling shocks that have been on workbench since last summer awaiting install...
^ Exactly what my brother said about them on his, odd how rain is poor but snow is fine.
Have Bilstein leveling shocks on the current ride, would not purchase them again. Initial impression, ride height exactly where I wanted it with a terrific ride. Last three or four months, shocks have taken a partial dump along with ride quality. To level mine, in the most compressed setting.

Forgot these. I have them as well, night and being on the surface of the sun difference towing heavy.
Interesting you say that about the Bils, we have a couple sets on buddies trucks, going on 2 years no degradation in quality. Both ram applications. I'll let you know once I get mine on. Currently in middle of dealing with car tho.
Found some j nuts and bolts locally (m10x1.5 35mm length is what's needed if anyone cares) and had some straps made. Just got tank on and secured again, then changed plugs which hadn't been done in some time. Think the coil pack mounting screw under the tb may be stripped tho, that cool didn't feel as secure as others. Will see if that causes an issue.
Now all I want to do is replace the 7 year K&N with an AFR dry flow filter and clean the maf. The car right now only has two not readies so debating holding off the rest of the tune up and taking it straight to etest Friday.
Had air bags in my GM, coolest of cool products.

I have them in my truck...but honestly not needed...although I don't know if my car is considered towing heavy or not...but I keep the minimum in the bags at 5 PSI which is the recommendation to at least have in at all times just so you don't pierce one with the spring...but my truck doesn't squat at all with the car on it...and still rides great IMO :)

Coincidentally, there was a racoon brawl in the backyard last night. When I went out there with a broom to break it up, they all jumped up on the fence. One by one as they hissed at me I took a baseball swing at them and sent them flying into the neighbors yard. One of them took a stand (well, he was cornered), so I let him be.

We spend an hour doing drive cycle and only manage to get EVAP to set. So I say to him get back to work and I'll keep cruising till we get em reset. Leave the shop and do a lap or so, suddenly I smell what I think is clutch. Go shit I must have been riding it off lights since I'm not used to driving with AC engaged. I decide to turn around head home, attack another day. Well the smell is getting worse and worse, so I decide to pull in to a shoppers and see smoke pouring out of driverside wheel. Brake somehow seized and caught fire. Let it smolder before I say fuck it I gotta get this home where I can deal with this since it's only 1-2km away. Well didn't think that through, no brakes at all. Pedal to floor. I limped it home on back streets in first using ebrake. My fender wells and centre cap. Oth melted. these little bastards would have to dig to china to get in there now

Changing 3V spark plugs sure is a scary process, plugs make some terrible noises. That said all out in one piece in way less time then anticipated!

Big Thank you to Rick and Ross.
Shifter is in. Throws are very short and precise/ solid.
the compromise
- increase NVH ( if you rest your hand on shifter- like a message chair) because of the way its mounted to the trans.
but not noticeable otherwise - shifter knob doesn't shake.
- shifting requires some muscle even in neutral you can't finger wiggle the thing

Resting hand on your shifter, if even slight forward / backward pressure is applied, can greatly accelerate shifter pads plus blocker ring wear.
Shifter pads are either a plastic of sorts or brass.

Blocker rings are basically a mini brake pad.

See there's no play on either of mine and of course I'm talking about the 3650 Cup and Ball mount transmission and shifter...I have no idea about others...but there is no play fwd or back at all, you can stand on that thing and it doesn't budge, plus if your shift stops are mounted properly there should never be any pressure on the rest of the internals...even without the shift stops it's solid
Dave, when your in any gear and keep even slight pressure either forward or back, your wearing out the above. Stops are to prevent over pushing the fork itself. It's why we sometimes get in a low mileage / never been abused trans in that either tics or grinds when shifting into certain gears (normally second and maybe 4th) where a person is more apt to keep / rest their hand on the shifter n wear pads n blockers out.
Ghost Rider
07-28-2017, 12:16 AM
I don't see how...when the ball is not touching anything? Where is the pressure going? I could see if it was a hooked up through cables or something where there might be some play?
I would think that it's mostly caused by bad shifting...a never abused transmission still doesn't mean you know how to shift properly LOL
IMO anyways :)
When it's in gear, hand off the shifter, fork basically self centers itself holding pressure off the fork, fork pads n blockers. Even slight pressure, forward or back on the shifter, wears em out in short order. Very similar to how brake pads release on a rotor, tiny clearance.
If you saw a trans stripped, you'd be surprised how little clearance there is in the slot fork slides into.

It's actually a pretty common misconception no harm will come from resting your hand on the shifter.

Not uncommon to hear that either. Other end of the spectrum, my first Cobra had under 20k on it when purchased. Odd shift into second with a tic / grind turned out to be pad smoked right off the fork and the fork itself chewed up. On test drive, former owner firmly on shifter at all times. We get the odd lowish miler (100k or less) in with little wrong beside pads smoked off a fork or two.

Besides, your hands should be on the wheel, not on the shifter. Shift gears, hands back on the wheel. ....Dave.

Was down on Eglinton this afternoon, what a shit show that area is with all the construction. Between the construction and the clueless drivers it's a complete zoo.
Near Eg and Yonge, there was a bus trying to make a left, and a truck trying to make a right, but neither could because the woman (could have been Andrea Martin's sister) next to me in the left turn lane had advanced waaaayyyy too far. The bus driver was yelling at her to move back (there were no other cars in the left turn lane behind her). Eventually, she got out of the way enough for the bus to turn. I started laughing. I think she thought I was sympathizing with her. She rolled down her window and said to me "that bus driver was so mad!". "Well, you were blocking traffic. You are supposed to stop way back there at the white line."

does the neighbour on your other side maybe have a recent survey done?
it's pricey to get those done
my old crusty neighbour to my west was like that before she finally sold and got the fuck out....
when I was planning my patterned concrete she was trying to claim I was going over her property line and that this tiny strip of nasty grass was hers etc......when I told my cool neighbour on the east side she said she had a 2 year old survey and gave me a copy
I took her survey and lined it up with my property measurements and marked it out
I typed out a note to the crusty bitch saying I was staying well within my property line...explained how I measured out the property.... and suggested if she wanted to pay the $1000 bucks for a survey she could do as she damn well pleases....and dropped it in her mailbox
never heard another peep from her
edit....and since she's been gone they built a McMansion which involved getting a survey done.....and my measurements were right on the money

Do you have a copy of your property site plan?
Property dimensions should be marked on plan and should be good enough to settle a neighbor dispute. No need for a legal survey.

Nope, they want to be difficult because they want to sell and are worried about what the potential buyers might want (despite the roof peeling, the backyard jungle of weeds and creeping charlie, the deck that fell over, and the two rusty leaning sheds. They said they talked to a lawyer who said since the chain link has been there for some time "squatters rights apply" and that's now the property line. I tried explaining to them my family has bought and sold over 100 properties and thats not exactly how adverse possession works, but they insist that it is.

I thought I did when I bought the plan but can't find the fucking thing (my dumb ass fault I'm sure). I measured out when I first bought the place and the chain link was on my side. City will not give out.

Been on holidays with friends this week.
Worked Monday and tuesday got yelled at by customers because I was taking holidays.
Then put my back out helping one of said customers.
Was suppose to be off Wednesday to pack. Ended up not getting everything done needed to before I left because my buddy's showed up 2.5 hours later than I expected. Then I had to go to work on my day off for another of those angry customers.
Woke up Thursday am on the day we were suppose to leave to a flat tire in the tent trailer. Had to get a new rim.
Drove without incident to Barry. Got on the Hwy and everything was fine till we got passed by a huge truck and the wash sent the trailers into a bad sway. Took everything I had the get it back under control without crashing. All the while my buddy was freaking out and kept feeling the need to tell me their were still swaying until I yelled at him. "I know it's swaying I'm trying to get it under control" and to shut the fuck up and let Me concentrate.
Stopped at a hitch place in Barrie and got lucky but had to drop $150 on a trailer sway arm
Due to my back we left the bikes at home. And Hiking with it was brutal.
My buddy changed his mind last min and didn't want to canoe or kayak because he didn't want to get wet.
We took the boat out but nothing in the lake was marked on a map or in person and blew my brand new prop apart hitting a rock.
Baybied it back to shore only to find out when we hit the rock it also blew a seal out of the hydrolic trim.
Drove all the way into town (1 hour plus)
Got a new prop. Put it on everything seemed fine till we put the boat back in the water and started the boat. Put it into gear to a loud bang and grinding. Pulled it back out and realized that diameter and pitch were right but the rake was wrong and under load the prop hit the upper trail adjuster in the stern drive. In about .5 seconds destroyed prop number 2.
Decided screw it let's go fishing from the shore. Caught a snag and when I flipped the rod back to try and pop it free my brand new rod exploded.
Pulled out my spare rod and promptly knocked my takle box off the culvert I was standing on. it crashed down in some rocks breaking the lid and sending half the lures flying never to be seen again
Now it's raining again and I'm so fucking glad we are driving home tomorrow.
Hopefully we make it in one piece
last 2 years the wife and I have spent the August long weekend at my nephews water-access cottage on Kawagama Lake...just east of Lake of Bays and Dorset
bailed this year because we've just had too much on our plate
sounds like we've missed a combination of torrential rain with a tornado touching down nearby....no freaking power from Friday aft until Saturday night....rain rain and more rain with highs in the mid teens.....fireworks cancelled because of the weather.....and a long drive home in the rain
maybe next year
