Conversaion is about a very real threat to future of snowmobiling in Ontario, the asshole. It seems said asshole and ones just like him or her, have little to no regard for rules and what it takes to keep the snowmobiling sport chugging along year after year. After all, everyone knows the trails appear out of no where and riding anywhere at any time with a fart can braaaaaping to high hell is a god given right.
It also applies to the "Mustang Hero" Ross n I saw on Thursday heading out in Pickering. Squirt getting on the highway, yup we've all done it, maybe even a squirt plus one or two. This Mustang Hero took it to level there is little wonder Joe n Jane P Normal non car person citizen thinks everyone in a muscle car is a douche. In spite of causing at least a half dozen brake checks by others with multi lane to multi lane swings back and forth across the highway with a ridiculous exhaust barking in harmony under long bursts of WOT, only got off the ramp in Pickering 5 vehicles ahead of me ( we cruised at a steady 115-120 n only changed lanes once to exit). It was mid afternoon heading East out of the city, traffic was heavy-ish but flowing well.



If there is one thing I pick up from reading this and many other threads is that it will be the older generation of sledders that destroys trail riding. Everyone must forget what it was like to be young.

I wouldn't even bother replying to this thread except for an occurance the other day - sitting waiting for a red light to change at an intersection, the person next to me in the left turn lane, went and made his left turn on a red light. No doubt he looked around to see if cops were present, or at least if there was perpendicular traffic, but this action is something I would not even have contemplated. This was the third time in a month that I've observed such a thing - can't count the number of times people have taken a dump in a public washroom and not flushed a toilet. Even got people on this forum openly supporting riding on a red - meaning closed - trail. The new motto on the family crest now reads "Where's Mine?".

As far as a cure for this goes, there isn't one. Education won't work. More enforcement might. Not likely though. I'm thinking the best thing to do is find a place with less density of population, and thus, a decreased asshole factor.

What to do, McGyver to the rescue. No longer wear contacts but have a few new in the package kicking around. Flush my eye with saline, contact in and let it settle, contact out and check for any debris. Repeat as necessary with tiny bit showing up on try four or five. Flush the eye again n repeat with contact to be sure piece was a Lone Ranger. Still burning n hurting like hell, actually it's worst after contact in and out so many times. Finish up with liberal squirt of Polysporin eye drops n allow a few hours to pass.
Not even close to normal yet but it's eased up a ton n glow is down to a dull roar.
Mission accomplished. :)

Boat trailer had new bearings/wheels/tires last summer.. Is there a general rule for trailer bearings? About 3500-4500km's on these now.. no noise that I can remember from last year.

Drilled axle is the best set up, feeds grease to the rear bearing first.
Greasing with BBuddys, take wt off the wheel with a jack, while pumping in grease, spin the tire n keep it spinning (doesn't need to be fast) until it's full. This way you have a better chance of grease making it's way to the rear bearing as well. On trailers that are submerged to unload the boat, grease after each use. I know it's a pain but only a fraction of the pain you'll feel when your boat n trailer are stuck on the side of a hwy somewhere or a wheel came off n caused an accident.
My current trailer has a drilled axle n fully expect it to never need bearings.
My former trailer with b buddys, put big miles on it over several years doing exactly as described above, never replaced a single bearing.

Back yard Reno 2.0 should be starting next week, just got confirmation the trusses for the 15x13 canopy we are building off the back of the house are in.

Got sick of my crappy 6x3 shed so I ordered a new one, hopefully that'll be in this week.

started trenching for my irrigation set up.. then I'll re- sod the back yard and hope I have more luck this time with the grass.

Front lawn I have a pro looking after, they should be starting by the end of the week tearing out the old lawn(3yrs old) and dropping 5yards of fresh soil and starting all over again with new sod.

hopefully done in the next 2-3 weeks then open up the pool for the season.. can't wait!

What's even better, this is the second shot at it. As the first time I discovered a small leak only happened under acceleration, I guess the t-stat fell out of the groove. Wont happen this time around, got a good tip on how to keep it in place.

Yes....

- gasket itself, opt for a Fel Pro or similar. Some of the self adhesive / black paper gaskets commonly sold fail shortly after install no matter how nice a job you do.

- before installing stat, drill a 1/8 hole towards the outer edge (just inside area gasket contacts). If your stat has a widget in a pre drilled hole, take the widget out. Some peeps like to drill two or more holes, not sure it makes a difference.

- using weatherstrip adhesive, glue stat and gasket to the housing using a small smear on the stat where it contacts the housing, same for the gasket, allow to fully dry before install (glue is there to secure it, not a sealant)

- if front of the intake / stat housing is anything but perfect, smallest smear of silicone on gasket face when installing

- if bolts are corroded, either clean up or toss away n replace, install using copper never seize on the threads so they'll come out next time plus flat 5/16 washer under each bolt to get max clamping on the housing itself.

- if your using a chrome housing, toss it away and go back to OEM / stock.

Rick why the hole? I noticed on the OEM t-stat there was a hole. On the Gates t-stat I purchased no hole.

I was planning this time around going with no gasket, just using Permatex RTV blue sealant. No good?

For sure drill a hole, yes many replacements don't have (weep hole).
Silicone only, all I can tell you, done as I posted, we've reduced leaks to within a hair of zero. If your stuck for a gasket, welcome to slide by n pick up a Fel Pro. If you don't have adhesive, bring housing as well.

The guys at my company who grade and sod all have boxes of emergency patches for cable lines that they got from a cable installer. When the lines are installed nothing like the plan and the locate guys do a crap job you're going to clip a few. Could be worse, could be a gas line buried 4 inches below grade that works its way out when you drive over it a few times...

No, no crushed lines that I know of.
The vacuum was just sucking air past the threads of the bleeder screw when you cracked it open. It worked much better on the front calipers where there was a rubber boot on the bleeder screw that helped seal it. Need to find some of those rubber boots/seals.

Who the fuck hits a car that bad pulling in to a driveway. Is it even worth looking for a new car knowing its going to be parked on the road.

Had a visitor for a few hours tonight. She was running around on a main road close to our neighborhood but I was eventually able to coax her into the car. Good thing a lot of dogs like to go for car rides. She seemed really interested in my dinner.

I manage a landscape supply yard, it was busy all week with people calling in for deliveries. There was a 2 hour period yesterday that I didn't get out of the loader, was constantly loading either our trucks for deliveries or customers trucks/trailers.

From what people were saying yesterday it wasn't even worth going to the terra that is near us for plants and bagged stuff, just too packed.

got all my monster pots done yesterday...only took about 4 beers

3 big 30" pots gobbled up 21 x 6" dragon wing begonias, and 20 x 4" potato vine......stuffed 26 x 4" sonic red impatiens into a 36" monster pot.....and 14 x 4" of the same sonic red into another skinny rectangular planter

7 more pots to go

it's a bit of a pita...but give it a few weeks and a few rounds of fertilizer and the yard will be looking awesome
