Shift Light

Hey all , has anyone here installed a Holley Sniper shift light in a 2005-2009 Mustang GT , if so where did you hook up the signal wire , instructions say common(neg) wire on #1 cyl. coil , I did so and get no signal . Light works , I can set RPM limit but get no tach reading or light . Is there another way to hook this up , has anyone found a way ? Thanks
