2nd hand feedback I've heard is that those don't tend to last very long, they are available as a special order through regular parts stores locally too. Might be a decent idea for a car that you're not looking to spend too much money on.

cool idea if it works - in the tucking industry there is tech that builds up welds on round shaft like parts and then mills them to spec. for an axle tho I don't think there would be much savings and may still be temporary....

Driveline Specialties perfected welding, machining then hardening of used axles. Remember talking with Al about how many different things they'd tried before hitting on the process that repaired junk axles. A shame they and the process is long gone.

What’s “not very long”?
Does the new bearing not last very long? Not a good bearing?
Or does the new spot on the old axle fail/pit/groove just as easy as the old spot?

Curious, because it’s seems like a fantastic idea.

These have been out for many years, I’ve used them plenty of times with good results, cheap, easy fix but I wouldn’t use them on anything I plan to race or abuse.

Ya they work well for a beater, I’ve done them mostly in Safaris, Sonomas, etc...old junk that nobody wants to buy an axle and bearing for. I saw one leaking shortly after installation (they use an o-ring seal that sits in a groove in the outer shell), so I started using RTV on the surface edge before installing so it has additional sealing.
It’s crucial to make sure the tube and the axle shaft by the flange are spotlessly clean and smooth.
