Anybody else ever assemble any of these 3D metal models? They come in a flat, laser cut, metal sheet. Along with some tweezers, needle nose pliers, and a magnifying glass you bend and assemble the tiny pieces.
I previously assembled an Avro Lancaster.

Now I'm working on the U.S.S. Arizona. The Lancaster was easy compared to this one. Way more pieces, and much smaller. I've only assembled the one tower so far.

That's cool - haven't seen them before.
They are available at Lee Valley
Does it taken longer or shorter time to assemble vs installing a set of cyl heads?

I've done a few of them. I have a Mustang still to do.

My kids got a book that was similar but paper not metal. One of the worst things I ever attempted.
Metal seems like a better bet.
so no glue or anything.....just bend and assemble in the right order?
props to the guys designing this stuff

Making much faster progress on the boat. Although the heads might be easier.

Insert tab 'A' into slot 'B', bend or twist to lock it in.

I will say it’s been a sobering experience to see how far my eyesight has gone :(

I’d have to have one of those magnifying lenses on an articulated arm with a light to even think about attempting one of those.

I got a few of them for Christmas a few years ago. Got about a third of the way through the first one and the instructions switched the orientation of the two sub assemblies I had just put together from one step to the next, meaning it would never balance. Threw it out at that point. If anyone in Burlington or waterdown wants a couple I'll gladly drop them in your mailbox. I think one is a Mustang and one likely star wars.

Picked up some star wars models at Disney a few years ago. I haven’t found the time to put them together yet. They are cool though. Nice job Don!

^If you got the TIE fighter one read a few steps ahead before each step. It is the one I had issues with.

Looks sweet. They come all printed with colour already?

It's not colour. The metal is polished. Any different shading or pattern you see are laser etched. Any actual colours in the picture are reflections.
