View Full Version : 04 Cobra Traction control/ABS question

I recently picked an 04 Cobra, car has a custom tune that also disables the traction control. Which it not a big deal but the ABS light is also on.
So my question, before I go and buy an obd2 scanner to check the codes on the ABS is the ABS light only on because the traction control is turned off permanently?
Or are they no tied together in anyway?

Normally when trac is shut off in the tune, ABS light is not on.

Thanks, kind of figured it shouldn't be. Guess I'll grab a scanner and see what codes it has.

Check all fuses first, next (if it's lowered) check for damage to the inner fender liner on the drivers side as harness is just above it.

If it turns out to be a control module issue (most common in GT / Mach 1) dude on ebay rebuilds them.

If it turns out to be a control module issue (most common in GT / Mach 1) dude on ebay rebuilds them.Just a FYI for those that might run across this thread searching ABS.
I thought about sending my module to the guy on eBay, but after a little searching I ran across a company in Mississauga that does Abs and pcm repairs for different makes and models. 24hr turn around and repairs cost for me is $149+hst. Just curious what type of tune do you have on the car. Is it a sctx4 with a hand held. Or is it a chip.

Just an update, dropped the module off yesterday morning, could have picked it up at 5pm last night but left it till this morning.
Got it installed this afternoon and the ABS light is off. I'm sure the ABS should work fine but can't test that till the spring.

FyI I have ABS light on because I have rings removed because 33 spline axles. SCT Tuner cannot turn ABS light off. Some day I will get custom rings and get abs back.

I have that same issue. Pulling the ABS bulb was my temp solution.
