End attack on Christians and other faiths! Voters should ask candidates whether they believe in a God and support those who DO. The lack of religious values in politics is why our children are killing each other. Religion and politics DO MIX. Let's drive the devil out of Toronto
At the risk of this thread heading south into the black flag forum....
Yeah, what we need in politics is RELIGION.
LOL at Ricky Gervais chiming in on TO politics...
Exactly. People who believe in a god are never violent. That’s why there are no religious people in prison.

Well, it is Giorgio. There's probably been more people killed in history in the name of some form of religion/belief so he should just stick to neighbours warring about building permits and noise complaints, and leave religion out of government. Look at the US for religion and dysfunction in government as well.

Wut? Now which religion? Kind of scary for any religion to be involved in politics, let's go back to the dark ages folks! What if the "religion" of choice is one that will take women's rights away and kill all gays and non-believers as written in texts.
What about we bring common sense back into politics (did it ever have any?)....
Also I hope that tool is one that will be fired by Ford...

Like something along the lines of reversing Roe v Wade?
Best to leave all religion out of politics.

I agree with him, we do need to bring Jesus back into our society. Because the alternative is truly horrifying.

The abortion argument has very little to do with religion. And more to do with morals and the decision over who has more right. A woman. Or a baby.

not a religious guy and used to have a lot of the same ideas as others with the down with religion thing.
how ever watching society degrade into self obsessed whiney idiots, with no moral compass or care for anyone other than their own image and I think we are failing younger generations by not instilling in them the idea of something greater than themselves
not saying religion is the answer but it defiantly helps
besides religion is the new punching bag and people have no problem insulting and being out right bigoted towards those who chose to believe in something and do no harm to anyone else in doing so

Sure, go have that conversation in the bible belt and the folks trying to change the top courts.
keep all types of fairy-tales out of all levels of politics....please and thanks
I'd likely feel more positive if governing was left to engineers and accountants

not saying people who are religious don't want to stop the murder of babies. but its not ONLY religious people. however those who are for "womans rights" seem to love to jump on "bible thumpers" as being crazy people who dant care about womans rights,
just the lefts way of arguing when they have no other leg to stand on.

I was raised without religion and my kids too, my dad figured out the hypocrisy in WW2 when he had been raised as an Orange Protestant to not trust Catholics, and French Canadians. He found they had his back and were descent human beings when your life was in peril.
Teach your kids some of the 10 commandments in a non religious manner and they will grow up respectful, and in my kids case more inclusive than my generation.
So if we go down the religion rabbit hole, do we allow Sharia law, or do an eye for an eye, or stone adulterers, etc., the worlds religions are too varied and complicated to bring into law and politics.
Georgio is just making noise as there is an election at hand. Maybe with cutting the wards to 25 he finally will have to do real work.

I would settle for simply some work.
He only shows up for about 1/2 of city council votes. How is that representing the electorate?

So by not showing up, he’s violating Torontonian human rights?

See, christianity TODAY (for the most part) is a very benign religion. You can make drawings of Jesus and not get killed for it for example and real or not his teachings such as "turn the other cheek when slapped" and the fact that he turned water to wine and hung around with hookers tells me he was a cool dude who liked to party (Maybe like Rob Ford). Sure there are extremists in the christian world too, so extreme that they completely ignore what Jesus taught them (like that anti-gay and whatnot chruch, WBS? forgot the name).
But lines need to be drawn. Religion is not a very good moral compass. We are wired to live in societies (with limits) of like-minded and similar people (we seek similar people and want to "hang out with them" and fight against other groups who aren't like us), it's in our DNA and how we evolved - we are social creatures. Because of this evolution we do not go on killing sprees and rob each other blind (for the most part). Religions are actually bad because it's selected morality. A lot of "good" religious people are those who ignore most of their religions, they pick and choose what to follow. It's funny when someone says religion is needed for morality - what morals are the persons using when they elect to follow "love bla bla bla" instead of "kill bla bla bla"? Which most religions will have in their books (not just islam). These "moral" religious people are just using judgement based on evolution, not divine intervention.
Also, why would a being like a GOD elect some of the dumbest illiterate humans in history to capture his so-called teachings like muhammad? Religions were probably needed back in the days where people would practically eat shit off a pigs back. Today we have science and the information age. There's no need for any religion to exist and certainly NO NEED for politicians who says things like "the devil in toronto". The devil simply does not exist, if anything the devil itself is in fact religion. What we need is agnostic people who realizes that religion is a mental illness today and focuses on providing better environments for people to flourish and be productive members of societies, also knowing that humans make little clicks and multiculturalism and diversity is also not always a good thing - it needs to happen organically (once we all smarten up and realize we're all pink on the inside and religions become a thing of the past). Otherwise you put crack head fucktards who ghetto'ize affluent neighbourhoods.
Keep in mind, yes I'm not a fan of god or any religion but I have a lot of friends of different faiths from muslims to buddhists we all get along fine. To me I see religious people who have not yet woken up, just like how they see me as someone who lost his way. I do like the concept of aliens with tech so advanced they'd be god-like to us as well as this whole thing being a stupid SIMS game for a future society... yeah we're all advanced AI living in a game... lol That seems a lot more plausible than god as we know him from the holy books.

He was potentially the first SJW (at least well recorded)....and a socialist (in today's terminology).

I wouldn't call him an SJW, I mean in those times nothing really did go well for those not born into riches or positions of power. He was an important figure (religious or not).

We are, I wish we weren't and I honestly believe in time humanity will part ways with tribalism as we evolve to face other issues we had created for ourselves. You and I could be extremely different from one another, it doesn't mean we need to battle to the death. It just means we can learn from each other and walk away enriched from the experience.
That's why this multiculturalism is only good when not forced. A good example is in the 14th (I think) century before the mongol invasions in Baghdad, it was a place of multiple cultures, multiple religions, science and people living in harmony under ISLAMIC rule to boot!!! I doubt there were trudeau-types forcing it on people back then. Actually I think extreme leftist types (trudeau, wynne, SJWs) we see today would probably have been killed or at least studied to find out why they're so retarded. <- also I realize I just said the golden age of islam sort of worked and it was ruled by religion... LOL You can't compare both landscapes, things are very different and I still feel all religions should slowly die out and make room for science and progress.
