Back on November 23, 1904, Henry Ford established Ford of Canada with Gordon McGregor of Walkerville ON.

The company was established to sell Ford vehicles in Canada, as well as the entire British Empire, with the exception of the United Kingdom.

Ford’s first international plant was constructed in Walkerville, now Windsor, Ontario; across the Detroit River from the company’s existing facilities.

Interesting side fact: Walkerville was founded by Hiram Walker of Canadian Club Whisky fame. He brought his distillery across from Detroit to avoid prohibition.

I'm with Ponyryd, this type of history is very cool, favourite stop is the Ford museum. Unbelievable how much money Henry Ford made and reinvested in his plants, and Detroit.
