Opinion's on 2014 - 2015 Mazda 3 hatch

Hi everyone, looking for a new (used) ride for my daughter, we're looking into Elantra GT ~ 2014 maybe a 2015 with around 35K to 50K, not easy to come by the Elantra with the Tech option (nav & camera) but I am seeing a lot of Mazda 3 out there same money - would love to hear your opinions of these cars good or bad !

2014ish Hyundai Elantra is at the end of it's cycle. The Mazda 3 of the same year is at the beginning. It was just updated slightly for this year. I'd go Mazda. Newer platform and more of a quality ride, imo.

I was helping a friend buy a car last summer and we test drove both the Hyundai Elantra GT and even the all new 2017 Elantra Sedan. And then the Mazda 3 Sport (hatchback). We both preferred the Mazda by far. Really great looking cars that have very solid feeling.

Just to add, we also both preferred the 2016 Elantra GT to the all new 2017 Elantra sedan.

Mazda for sure. Resale isn't as good, perhaps, but all the magazines rate it highly

Mazda, unsure about the most current ones, but not so many years ago they had significant catastrophic engine failures in the 3s and the 6s. I also wonder if they've got a grip on the premature rusting that used to be all too common as well.

I love seeing ads with "Typical Mazda rust". But I think the new 15's and up they fixed that

Update, 2015 Mazda 3 hatch in the lead, 7 year , 140 ,000 km warranty ! lots of nice low klickers out there coming in off lease , drives nicer than an Elantra, slightly bigger! more test drives today
