Wow!!! My 67 mustang is almost ready and now my biggest decision is do I leave the mudflaps or get rid of them. Were they part of OEM or added afterwards. What's considered more 'classic', with or without? Mostly planning in staying on paved roads and fair weather driving.
What's the benefit to keeping them - or benefits of getting rid of them.
Thanks in advance guys.

Just about anything from that era looks better without them IMO. Unless you're planning on doing a lot of driving with it on dirt or gravel roads, I'd say leave them off. They were never OEM on that car, but could have been a dealer-installed accessory at the time of sale.
Good to hear that it's almost ready to roll, just in time for the nice weather.
cheers
Ed
Another vote for please ditch them.

Make that three, IMO nothing needs mud flaps unless you're muddin/dirt road drivin

How sticky a rubber will you be using? They did not come from factory with them.

Nice car but i don't care for the flaps either . I'd remove them and possibly use some clear 3M vinyl to protect that area instead . I've got the hard plastic guards on my car and nobody at shows or cruise nites has ever noticed or mentioned them .

About to grab a set of low profile oem splash guards for my mach 1. Not having them has already had my rear bumper scratched up by kicked up dirt rocks. I saw low profiles would make it look nice.

Not sure if this style is available aftermarket for the first gen stangs but the definite way to go if they are . I had a 64 1/2 289 coupe back in the day (no flaps) and my first new car ever was a custom ordered , radio delete 1969 ww/red 1969 Mach1 , 351 4v 4spd (absolutely no flaps) .
My newedge is lowered 1 3/4 " , 1 1/2 " on Vogtlands and touches down the front guards on some speed bumps .
