At least the third one in recent memory, what the heck is going on with that place?

Lots of jibbering n jabbering about how close it is to the residential area and Toronto Zoo. Peeps do know the wreckers has been there almost forever and the homes being built are whats putting residents closer to it not the yard moving towards them. Makes a person wonder if they are the unluckiest peeps in the world or if something else is in play to push the yard out.

I gather it is intentionally started by someone. I love that place. It like car heaven for a parts guy like us.

Buddy was on scene a good part of the night, says buildings n much of whats in the yard looks nuked.
Terrible loss for the owners and those that work there.

I thought the last fire there wasn't very long ago.
Fire, reported to have started when workers were present.

Firefighters will spend the overnight hours monitoring the scene of a five-alarm fire that erupted at a Scarborough auto wrecker’s on Thursday afternoon, and saw crews battle wind and lack of water access to contain the blaze.
The flames started in an oil pit at Standard Auto Wreckers, at Steeles Ave. and Sewell’s Rd., just after 11 a.m. An enormous plume of heavy, black smoke rose from the fire.
“There were no hydrants in this yard,” said Capt. David Eckerman of Toronto Fire Services.

Eckerman said firefighters at the scene had to pump water from some distance away, and asked the City of Toronto to boost water pressure.

At its peak, 16 fire trucks were involved in pumping water by relay from the hydrant, boosting the pressure, and pushing water along the line to the next pumper, Eckerman said.

They have another yard just outside of Port Hope on Hwy 2 , wondering if they needed the insurance dough , just a thought ??
