Good to hear it's been a dependable ride, nothing worse than one that is constantly broken. I hear you on staying with whats been good to you. Will however ad, do yourself a solid n strap on a '15 up Rush for at least a short ride before you make a final decision. If you like hard and fast, especially in the tighter stuff, no matter if it's smooth or junked out, this thing does nothing but beg to be pushed harder. Kind of odd, first impression when you sit on it, rider position is too high to be that capable or stable. First sled I've ever bought where it's not needed a bunch of mods to make it perform out of the box, couple of tweaks n it's been great.
Of course riding in Quebec, every gas stop, it's the oddball. :) Did a bunch of riding in around Orillia n Barrie, way more common round those parts.

Well my weekend of riding didnt end well. We had a accident in our riding group. I was the last rider in our group, the rider ahead of me went off the trail in a turn and hit a tree.
The sled burst into flames and he was thrown off the sled and sadly passed away at the side of the trail in his sons arms.
I was the only witness to this accident and has been a real eye opener to how fast things can happen.

Oh man, that is tragic. I hate hearing stories like this. It is on my mind when I ride and I remind myself to back off. My heart goes out to everyone involved.

speed was not a major factor, we were going and around 50-60 kph. he simply made a error, paniced and maybe have grabed the throttle.

Booked into the Sportsmans Lodge Sunday for 3 or ?? days riding. Never ridden around Sudbury before but lucky enough to hook up with someone local that knows the all the less travelled gems.

Plan, head to Sudbury last Sunday for a couple or three days riding out of the Sportsman Lodge.
On the road. No snow as I headed up the 400 but a lil bit around Barrie with patchy snow off n on until just south of Sudbury.

ZR

Not much on the hwy between 69 and 17 but lots more as I headed north up the Lodge. Road doesn't look bad in the pics but it's a 50kph max kinda deal with tons of sharp rolling hills n bumps / holes large enough to eat the trailer.

If you get a chance to stay at the Sportsman Lodge your in for a treat. Owner n staff are absolutely top notch. While accommodations are rustic the place has a unique charm you can't help but fall in love with. Food plan for breakfast n dinner had me concerned but everything was just this side of amazing.
Rode the trails by myself on Sunday afternoon logging north of 100 miles. Trails range from tight woods to miles n miles of lake crossing plus substantial elevation changes tossed in for good measure. Not much extra snow on em in spots but flat n fasssssst as hell, just gotta watch for the icy corners is all.

ZR

One of the many long lake crossings. Surface of the staked trail chipped up enough by studs n number of sleds passing over, cooling and lube for the sliders was a non issue. Also gave me a good spot for a moderate pull, not bad as it easily hit 110mph on gps. For sure it'll pull more but riding alone it didn't seem prudent to push the issue any harder, besides it was freakin cold cold cold going that fast out there.
Scenery is breathtaking.
New sled has been awesome n continues to impress.

Monday, woke up to a frigid -27 plus windchill. Thankfully thought to put the sled back in the trailer which I'm sure helped at least a little, fired up on the first crank of the key, thank goodness.
Started the day off with a guy from the lodge I'd met at dinner plus local club president and vice president Kevin. Great getting a local perspective on the best trails to ride. Seeing as I'd only talked to them via the web, very cool of them to show me around, great guys.

About 2 hours into the ride we came across a bull n cow. The cow farted off in to the woods but the bull kept us at bay for gone 25 minutes before he finally trotted off the trail. One huge SOB, so who were we to argue he was holding us up. At least it was in the woods n outta the wind. Damm I look good with that helmet on. New FXR pants are super comfy n toasty warm, yes even at those kinda temps. Due for a new coat though, likely go with the matching FXR jacket plus it's time to retire that helmet as it's getting long in the tooth age wise.

Sadly, Kevin got a call at lunch his Dad had been transported to the local hospital and had to head out ASAP. Rode back to the lodge with the Phazer rider I'd met there. My red neck gps did me proud again, love having that thing. All in we had run about 200 miles.

On Tuesday morning, learned his father had passed away overnight. Given the frigid temps n no riding partner, packed it in n headed home. Few shots from just West of 69 south on the way home.
My deepest condolences to Kevin and his family.
Thank you to George at his staff at the Sportsman Lodge, you guys truly do it right.

A few weeks ago I was pretty much set of either trading the sled in or keeping as a spare n going with a new left over '17 800 XCR but with the few small tweaks it's needed, this sled has turned into a favorite I'll ride for at least one more season.

Heat exchanger moved to the rear seems to better deal with low snow n icy conditions. Saw nothing over 140 all day out of either sled.

Heading to Hali Forest for the day. Little to no snow until north of Minden, steadily increased as I climbed from Carnarvon up to the Forest as did the fog, soupy in spots.

Smooth n fast trails for the most part, no snow at all on the lakes. Buddy with a Pro S 800 Switchy joined me for the day.

We'd gone West on this trail less than half hour before only to come across a fallen limb on our way back. Did our due diligence n marked with combo of orange tape n branches then brought it to their attention at the base camp. A reminder as to just how fast things can change when riding trails.

ZR

No trip to the forest is complete without visiting at least one of the look outs. Trail up to the second one was all bare rock n mud, passed on it this time.

Packed up n headed home for the last time this season. Can't complain, put big miles on the new buggy with virtually no problems, puts a stupid grin on my face each n every time I squeeze the flipper. Considered trading on a new one for next year but like it enough I'll keep for at least one more. By a considerable margin, best new sled I've ever owned.
How many days till winter?????

Always room for more, keep an eye on the thread next winter.
Didn't get out as much as I'd like but still managed a good pile of miles. Only downside, put a ton of miles on the truck getting there but worth every bit of it.
